Game Room Contact

The Shore Leave Game Room will be offering different games for the Con Goers to play, everything from CCGs (Collector Card games, such as Magic the Gathering and the Warhammer CCG), RPGs (Role-Play games, such as Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Mechwarrior), Miniature Wargames (such as  Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40,000, BattleTech, Kings of War, Dreadball, Warmachines, and Hordes just to name a few), Clicky Base games (such as Heroclix, Star Trek Heroclix, and Mechwarrior Heroclix), and even some board games. We will also have demoing by reps from various gaming companies such as Mantic Games, Final Sword Productions, and others. We will have demos of games running all weekend long.

The Gameroom opens at noon on Friday and runs until Midnight. We reopen at 10AM Saturday morning and run until 2AM Sunday (or until we are too tired to stay awake), and reopen Sunday morning at 9AM and run until 3PM.

The Game Room is intended to provide an open gaming environment for everyone, while offering an enjoyable place free of conflict off the game table. This means we do have to have some rules (unfortunately). “Booking a table” is not an option. RPG Game blocks are “first come, first served,” and are 4 hours, with no auto-extension, except for RPGs, which can get one automatic 2-hour extension if there are active participants, or a timed coffee/relief break is on (not to exceed 15 minutes). All other games are eligible for a 2-hour extension at the game room Chair’s discretion. Further extensions are also at the Chair’s discretion.
Note that if an RPG-miniatures game has pre-registered a dinner break (not to exceed 1-1/2 hours) with
the Game Room Chair(s), they can resume play at that time. The GM must have a sign of some kind to
indicate that their game is in a “Freeze” Status clearly posted on their table layout.

We follow the 5-2-1 rule established by Hal Haag long ago in a Game Room far, far away: 5 hours
sleep, 2 meals per day, and 1 shower/bath per 24 hours.

Eating while playing is at the sole discretion of the Game Room Manager on duty; no exceptions. Loud,
disruptive behavior can (not necessarily will) cause ejection from the Game Room. The Game Room is
not a baby-sitting service, parents are accountable for their children.

There are no sales in the Game Room; that’s what the Vendor’s Room is for. Game Demos are to draw customers to the Vendor’s Room, where your products are being sold, by either you or your vendors.

We have a video game console this year (on a bigscreen – okay, mid-size flat-screen – TV). There is a
limited selection of games available for it, and once you get killed out, if there’s a line, you go to the end
of the line. If there’s no line, go ahead and reset; no exceptions.

Final Authorities

  • In an RPG, the Game Master’s ruling is final within the scope of the game.
  • Within a Board Game or Miniatures Game, or a CCG – the Rules are.
  • The Game Room Manager’s ruling is final within the Room.
  • The Con Chairs rule the Convention, and the Hotel rules the Hotel.
  • The division is where the Game and the Real World splits.
