Josh Handal is a Program Analyst for the Planetary Defense Coordination Office at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Previously, he served as a Public Affairs Officer for various NASA planetary science and planetary defense missions -- including for the agency's Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) and the Near-Earth Object Surveyor missions -- and as a strategic messaging consultant to the NASA Science Associate Administrator to aid in communicating the NASA Science Mission Directorate's portfolio of over 60 flight projects to target audiences world-wide. He earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia.
