Shore Leave, A fan run Science Fiction Convention
Dear Fellow Fans,
While we are heartened by the progress being made in fighting the coronavirus pandemic, for the health, safety, and comfort of our attendees, guests, volunteers, and staff, the Shore Leave organizing committee has decided it is best that Shore Leave run in a virtual mode again this year.
We had hoped that COVID-19 concerns might lessen by summer. However, given the additional issues of emerging viral strains and challenges with vaccine distribution, it is clear that holding a crowded social event like ours would not be the responsible thing to do at this time. A virtual event will allow all of us to maintain those connections so essential to our daily lives while making sure everyone is as safe and healthy as possible when we meet in real life as we plan to do in July of 2022.
We are actively working with our guests to have them be part of our Virtual Con for 2021. Be sure to keep an eye on our social media for the latest news - Website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Planning is in progress to move much of the programming to a virtual setting on the Shore Leave weekend (July 9 - 11, 2021) using Zoom, Gathertown, and Discord. Please watch for communications regarding this year’s programming, and maybe a few special surprises!
Anticipating some common questions:
While we are very disappointed to not be able to meet in person, we are looking forward to seeing everybody happy, healthy, and vaccinated in Hunt Valley the weekend of July 15 - 17, 2022.
Stay safe and healthy,
Don and Inge,
Co-chairs, Shore Leave 42
