Shore Leave, A fan run Science Fiction Convention
Dr. Rachael Livermore is an astrophysicist at the University of Texas at Austin. Originally from Plymouth, England, she received her PhD from Durham University in the UK for her research on distant galaxies. She now studies the first galaxies in the Universe using the Hubble Space Telescope and the largest ground-based telescopes in the world. Rachael is also passionate about communicating science to the public. In 2014 she co-founded the Austin, Texas branch of Astronomy on Tap, and she critiques the science of science fiction as part of a series of movie screenings with the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin.
