Sandra Lee Gimpel is a groundbreaking stunt coordinator, actress, and director who helped pave the way for women in Hollywood action filmmaking. A founding member and past Vice President of the Stuntwomen’s Association, she made history as the first stuntwoman to earn a DGA card and become a Second Unit Director with the Directors Guild of America.
Her Star Trek appearances remain iconic—first as a Talosian in the original pilot “The Cage,” later featured in “The Menagerie,” and then as the unforgettable M-113 “Salt Vampire” in “The Man Trap.” These roles secured her a lasting place in Star Trek history.
Her impressive credits include The Goonies, The Truman Show, Airplane! (the unforgettable “Girl Scout fight”), Battlestar Galactica, The Bionic Woman, Off Their Rockers with Betty White, and Raising Hope with *Cloris Leachman. She also doubled Debbie Reynolds for much of her career and Bill Mumy on Lost in Space. Most recently, she appears in the new Naked Gun film now in theaters.
Before her stunt career, Sandra performed as a dancer, sharing the screen with Fred Astaire and appearing in 15 Elvis Presley films, from Clambake to Change of Habit.
A 4th-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, trained by Billy Blanks, Sandra continues to embody discipline, strength, and artistry both on and off screen.
