Rachel Luttrell

Rachel Luttrell is a Tanzanian-born Canadian actress, singer, and dancer best known for her role as Teyla Emmagan on the sci-fi television series Stargate Atlantis.

In her early career, Luttrell performed in musical theatre. She made her professional debut in Miss Saigon in Toronto and later appeared in Beauty and the Beast, Once on This Island, Goblin Market, and Lynn Nottage’s Las Meninas. After moving to Los Angeles, she worked in television, appearing in shows such as ER, Charmed, and Forever Knight.

Rachel Luttrell’s breakout role came in 2004 when she was cast as Teyla Emmagan on Stargate Atlantis. Over the show’s five seasons, Teyla became a central figure—strong, compassionate, and deeply connected to her Athosian people.

After Atlantis, Luttrell continued acting in both television and film. She guest-starred on NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, True Justice, and Arrow. She has also appeared in independent films such as The Aviary and Hardwired, and she featured in A Dog’s Breakfast, directed by her Stargate co-star David Hewlett.

Recently, Rachel performed the role of a Jabari Warrior from Wakanda for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War.

Mother now to two young children Rachel and has added writer/producer to her extensive list of credits allowing her to be more hands-on with her kids.
