Kerrice Brooks

Kerrice Brooks is an American actress and former professional dancer whose rising career spans stage, film, and now into one of sci-fi’s most beloved franchises. She began her entertainment journey as a professional dancer, performing with high-profile artists including Billie Eilish, Kanye West, Lil Nas X, and Kelly Rowland, before transitioning into acting with small screen and film roles. Early acting credits include performances in The Prom (2020), The Cypher (2020), and How We Roll (2022), with breakthrough roles in the coming-of-age comedy Feeling Randy (2024) and the acclaimed My Old Ass (2024).

Brooks’s big break into genre television came with her casting in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, set in the 32nd-century. She portrays Series Acclimation Mil, aka SAM, a groundbreaking character described as the first Kasqian hologram cadet to ever attend Starfleet Academy — a photonic being “programmed to be a young adult” yet literally new to existence, approaching every experience with fresh curiosity and a unique sense of wonder.

Brooks’s audition impressed the show’s creators so much that they rewrote SAM’s character to fit her distinct voice and energy. Her character stands at the heart of the show’s ensemble of cadets, exploring what it means to grow, learn, and define oneself within the iconic Star Trek universe.
