Shore Leave 30 Guest: Keith DeCandido![]() ![]() Biography: So who is Keith R.A. DeCandido, anyhow? When last we saw Keith R.A. DeCandido at Shore Leave 29, he was percussing for the Boogie Knights at their 25th anniversary, autographing his many works of fiction, doing panels on various and sundry subjects, and filling in for Michael Jan Friedman at Mystery Trekkie Theatre 3000. He's hoping that this year will be a tad less hectic, but somehow he doubts it. Since that crazy occasion last July, Keith has seen several new works in print: Resident Evil: Extinction, the novelization of the hit film; Supernatural: Nevermore, the first novel based on the popular CW TV show; the Star Trek: Klingon Empire novel A Burning House; Four Walls, Keith's debut writing for the CSI: NY franchise; several articles for Star Trek: The Magazine; the Dragon Precinct short story "A Clean Getaway" in the anthology Pandora's Closet; A Gutted World, one of the short novels in the Star Trek: Myriad Universes volume Echoes and Refractions; and three works of fiction in celebration of the twentieth anniversary of Star Trek: The Next Generation: the novel Q & A, the short story "Four Lights" in the anthology The Sky's the Limit, and the eBook Enterprises of Great Pitch and Moment , the concluding chapter in the six-part Slings and Arrows miniseries. In addition, Keith has edited the Doctor Who: Short Trips anthology The Quality of Leadership, which includes fiction by past and present Shore Leave guests Peter David, Diane Duane, Terri Osborne, Una McCormack, Richard C. White, Allyn Gibson, Robert T. Jeschonek, Linnea Dodson, John S. Drew, and Kathleen O. David, and which will be available at Shore Leave 30. Later in 2008, Keith will return to Star Trek comics with a contribution to the Alien Spotlight II miniseries for IDW, and he'll be returning to the Supernatural and StarCraft franchises as well. Keith continues to be the Boogie Knights' percussionist, performing live at conventions and wherever else they'll be had, and he also has performed on their CD Many a Sleepless Knight and their live DVD recorded at last year's Shore Leave. By the time the convention rolls around, he will have married fellow author Terri Osborne. Feel free to buy both of them lots of drinks.
