Shore Leave 30 Guest: Geoff Trowbridge

Biography:

Geoff Trowbridge grew up watching reruns of the original Trek series in syndication, and his lifelong affinity for Trek literature was established when an uncle introduced him to the James Blish adaptations. But despite writing as a hobby, it was never clear that Geoff would one day sell his own stories. His profession had always been working with computers; given his love for books, it was only natural that he would end up as the Network Manager for the public library.

Geoff first worked with editor Marco Palmieri when collating the data for the novel timeline in Voyages of Imagination, and Marco graciously agreed to consider his short story "Suicide Note" for the anthology The Sky's the Limit, despite Geoff having already submitted it to Strange New Worlds 10. Even Geoff's most optimistic expectations were surpassed when both editors simultaneously offered to buy it. The story also was included as a cross-promotion in Tokyopop's manga Kakan Ni Shinkou. Geoff's latest novel, The Chimes at Midnight, will be released in August as part of the Myriad Universes: Echoes and Refractions trade paperback omnibus.

Geoff lives in Elkhart, Indiana with his wife, three children and one dog.
