The summer months are a critical time for donations. Blood of any type (preferably human, though), is needed to ease the shortage in the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Regions.
The bloodmobile is currently scheduled to be be available on:
Please consider, you can give blood every 56 days - so to be eligible to donate blood at Shore Leave 35 you can not have given blood after June 8 in order to donate on Saturday, August 3 and after June 9 in order to donate on Sunday, August 4.
We encourage all planning to donate to make an appointment in advance. You will be able to schedule your time as well as a reminder E-mail or phone call prior to the Convention. Please remember that the donation process generally takes about an hour to complete. We will be recruiting donors the day of the drive and remember that walk-ins are welcome. (Please note that those with appointments will be given priority.)
Do you have questions about whether you're eligible to donate because of medical conditions or travel? Please call the Red Cross at 1-866-236-3276
Our goal for Shore Leave 35 is 100-150 donors each day. Please tell your friends about this and encourage them to give blood. For more general information about giving blood or about the Red Cross please visit their website.

A blood donor is good... ...for people who go through windshields and red lights. ...for somebody with leukemia. ...for people being operated on. ...for barefoot children who aren't careful. ...for hemophiliacs so they can be as normal as possible. ...for daredevils. ...for people undergoing dialysis while waiting for a kidney transplant. ...for people who fool around with guns. ...for little children who manage to uncap a bottle of something poisonous. ...for people who are burned very badly. ...for new mothers needing a transfusion. ...for new babies who need a complete change of blood supply. ...for cancer patients. ...for people with a severe case of hepatitis. ...for kids who fall out of trees or whatever. ...for anybody any age with bleeding ulcers. ...for people in the wrong place at the wrong time. ...for the very tired with severe anemia. ...for people who run into things. ...for people who are in a lot worse shape than most of the people you know.
Every 02 seconds someone needs blood!! It could be you. Give Life, Give Blood!!
